McNeil Point
We weren’t as fortunate with
the weather on our second Mt. Hood hike to McNeil Point as it was still gray
and cloudy the day after a hard rain. The beginning of the hike coincided with
the Pacific Crest Trail which runs from southern California to northern Canada
along the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges and had me reminiscing
about my long distance Appalachian Trail thru hike way back in 1993.
The hike ended at this shelter
where there should have been good views of Mt. Hood, but we were completely
socked in by a heavy fog that wouldn’t be lifting any time soon.
Afterwards we salvaged the “day
without views” by doing a nearby hike to Tamanawas Falls.
