Yocum Ridge
The good weather and amazing
views returned on our third Mt. Hood hike to Yocum Ridge. At 18.75 miles and 9
hours with two different viewpoints, this was our longest hike. Our first
picture spot was about 3.5 miles in at Ramona Falls.
Emerging from the forest after
many switchbacks up the mountain side, we were rewarded with a sweeping view of
Mt. Hood.
The first viewpoint provided a
close-up look of the deep glacier crevasse at the foot of Mt. Hood. The second viewpoint was on the outher side of the
ridge behind me.
This was the
view of Mt. Hood from the second viewpoint.
In addition to
Mt. Hood, the second viewpoint provided expansive views of the surrounding
landscape.
You could also
clearly see in the distance the other prominent area volcanoes (from left to right)
Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainer (about 100 miles away), and Mt. Adams.
