Preparing
for the cross country trek in Marysville,
WA on Saturday June 16th.
|
Dipping
the rear tire in the Pacific Ocean the next
morning denotes the official starting point.
|
Trying to
subdue the cold and wet weather with hot drinks at the picnic stop on the
first day's ride.
|
Judy and
Jean soak up the sun that finally came out in the afternoon on the second
day.
|
Snow
capped peaks and meandering streams were a common sight throughout Washington and Montana
during the first week.
|
Bike paths
like this one on the way to Kellogg,
Idaho were a nice break from
the bad combination of narrow shoulders and heavy, fast moving traffic that
we encountered along some of the major roads.
|
Cycle America staff
member John Newman took great pride in being one of the rare recumbant bike
riders.
|
Getting
older doesn't have to be a bad thing - the average age of the riders on this
trip was 50, and many of them (like Jody) were retired.
|
Trains
were another common western scene (see the tracks on the right side of the
stream).
